Chris Bryant, the MP for the Rhondda has come top of a ballot to introduce a change to the law through a Private Member’s Bill. There is no guarantee that the Bill he proposes will become law. He will have to argue his case and will need support from other parties. He is not allowed to introduce a Bill which aims to increase taxes or public spending. But he is guaranteed the number one slot in debates in the autumn.
Because he wants the public – his constituents in the Rhondda – to have a say on what he should introduce, he is asking you to choose between the following six bills.
His promise is that barring any unforeseen events he will introduce one or other of the two that top the poll.
The poll closes at 7pm on Tuesday 11 July and the result will be announced the following day.
